My youngest is working on color recognition, so I like making simple activities like this to help with learning his colors while playing with the toys that he loves!
This activity is simple to set up, and provides endless fun for kids!

Everything You Need:
If your like me and have magnetic tiles already, then you won’t need this list. However if you don’t have magnetic tiles or any of the other materials mentioned I’ll include amazon links below to the thins mentioned in this blog post.
- Magnetic Tiles
- Pom Poms
- Container or Sensory Bin Table

Putting The Magnetic Tiles Together
For this activity I like to use the magnetic tiles to create small boxes, that are the same color. This will be great for sorting pom poms based on color.
EXTRA: If you have the ball run magnetic tiles, you could use the ball run tracks to create small slides for the pom poms.

Using The Sensory Table For This Activity
I decided to set this activity up using our sensory table, so I could create small slides using the ball run tracks. Adding the tracks added a extra fun element.
Choosing A Fun Sensory Bin Filler
My go to filer for all my sensory bin activities is usually rice. It’s easy to dye, and can be customized to fit any theme really. But for this activity I used just the pom pom’s which turned out amazing! Here is a list of some sensory bin fillers you could try;
- Rice
- Pasta (dry )
- Kinetic Sand
- Pom Pom’s
- Beans (dry)
- Shredded paper
- cotton balls
- play dough pieces
- Buttons
- Aquatic Rocks
- Oatmeal
- Water
- Slime

How To Set This Activity Up
- Star by gathering all the materials needed.
- Start making the magnetic tile boxes. Optional, connect the marble run tracks if you have them.
- Add whatever sensory fillers you plan on using, I did rainbow rice. Add the cotton balls in too.
