Introducing Writing Activities To Toddlers
Now that my daughter is getting older she is becoming more interested in paper, crayons, and markers. Introducing writing activities to toddlers is a great way to start pre-writing skills early. Because most toddlers are still pretty young, I wanted to create a writing tray that would allow them to explore freely, and practice writing at the same time.
It is recommended to start introducing writing activities as early as 12 months, At 12 months I would focus more on getting your little one used to holding writing utensils. As they get older you can introduce a paper, and other writing utensils as well.

This writing tray is ideal for toddlers learning those necessary pre-writing skills. They get to practice writing, as well as fine motor practice with the crayon, marker holder, I wanted to create a writing tray that my little one could access on her own, and go back to throughout the day.
What You Need
Fine Motor Practice With Egg Carton
When creating this writing activity, I knew I wanted to create something that would allow my daughter to easily access the marker or crayons. I also figured why not incorporate some fine motor practice as well.
The holes in the egg carton are perfect for fine motor practice, and she really loves taking the crayons in and out of the egg carton. She is still really young, so we are practicing with lots of pre-writing activities. The main focus of this tray is to get her use to handling different writing utensils.
Using A Tray To Hold Paper and utensils
I practice a more Montessori approach with my daughter, so I wanted this activity to be something she could easily access on her learning shelf.
The goal was to create an activity tray she could play with and come back to throughout the day. So adding a tray to hold the paper, and pencils were a great solution for her.
